Straight Talk And A Bridge Over Troubled Waters

When I was younger, one of my favorite music groups was Simon and Garfunkel. Indeed, many song lyrics of men speak to our flesh because they hold some truth. Scripture tells us how things are when we were babes.

1 Corinthians 13:11 – When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

When we walk in the flesh, we think, speak and do fleshly and childish things. That is not altogether bad, because it is our portion as fleshly people, that we are allowed to rejoice in, in this thing called life on Earth. Our lives are after all, seasons of growth. However, the goal of the Creator (our Elohim Yahuah) through his Word made flesh Son Yahusha is to turn our attention away from the flesh, toward him, the One who is Spirit.

Ecclesiastes 3:13 – And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

So many people are asking questions:

“Why are we here?”

“What am I supposed to be doing?”

“Where did we come from?”

And we look to man to answer questions he (or she) is not qualified to answer. In truth, we are here to learn of our Elohim and of ourselves. We are to learn that we are each fleshly beings who have sinned and who need the Father’s Word and Spirit in order to repent and to return to him when we leave this place – that is if we want to live eternally with him in peace and safety.

In short, the Earth is the training ground for flesh to become Spirit beings. This is the realm in which we get to choose which path we desire to walk both here in this world and also in the next, for eternity. Unfortunately, there are only two choices. We either serve our Elohim and live according to his Laws and plan for our life, or we choose our own roads here, and the eternal incinerator, garbage dump or burn pile. The Words gives us only two options, and lets us know that any other “way” is man’s version of what is to become of us. Man’s version, man’s interpretations aren’t the real Truth. It is a worldly truth that man imagines is truth.

Mark 9:43 – And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

Mark 9:44 – Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

The Father’s Laws, his commandments (which are his Word) are very clear on how we are to conduct ourselves in his Kingdom, for all things he creates are inherently his, no matter how we might wish to redefine them. He holds (some might relate to this) an eternal copyright upon all of his creation. We’re the ones who try to infringe upon the Creator’s copyrights. The penalty for breaking his Law (which is sin), is death. That means not only that we die once in the flesh, but our Spirit also “dies,” like for eternity.

Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Repentance is the doorway to begin our walk toward eternal life with our Elohim. Like a fleshly song, repentance isn’t only the snappy tune that gets our attention. It’s also the lyrics that we must bury deep within our hearts and minds so we can walk forth daily by faith singing Messiah’s Song of life for eternal life.

We must walk through the doorway of Messiah in the manner of obedience and truth that he walked in to have the hope of salvation. Salvation isn’t automatic like some leaders are teaching the saints today. We don’t simply “believe” there is a song or a Messiah, or a way to eternal life and then expect that everything is already done for us. If we think that way, then we also mistakenly believe that the Laws of the Father are dead or that they were somehow nailed to a cross. But those are not the teachings of Messiah. Those are the teachings of men.

If we prefer to listen to man’s teachings over Messiah’s, we don’t take full responsibility for ourselves or our sins. Messiah paid the price for the sins that man commits, but only for those who accept his Word and his ways. People want to accept his sin atonement without accepting their share of the responsibility for walking with him. That means that we share in the WORKS of Messiah. When we die to self by repenting, we pick up his cross, his stake, and continue his work, his walking out of his truth in this land.

James 2:26 – For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Revelation 2:5 – Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

2 Timothy 3:17 – That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

John 14:21 – He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

If we love Yahuah, we’ll keep his commandments and he will manifest himself to us! He will send his Spirit of Yahusha. Yahusha didn’t die in vain for vain people who sit in pews and say nice things and then go home and go to bed, and repeat ad nauseum! He died in truth for all who will walk in his truth today, in obedience to the commandments. But it isn’t obedience as men are teaching. It is obedience as Messiah will teach us!

Yahusha died so that we won’t have to die in the Spirit. He gave up his spiritual walk on this Earth so that the saints who are true believers in him can pick up his stake, his cross, which is right where he left it and continue the works he did by his Spirit, which directs us from Heaven (and even greater works)! That is what true repentance means. That is how the true walk toward righteousness and truth begins. That is the way we are to make his paths straight. We begin to do the things that he came to do, and that he begins to do through us when we join with him by his Spirit, as One. We go out and plow the field and sow his seeds of righteousness.

Luke 3:4 – As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Those paths are the paths upon which we are to tread, with him walking in our body along with us. They are our life paths, our life assignments and the works that we are to do in our priesthood assignments while we walk out our faith in obedience to his Laws in his Kingdom here on Earth. We are to walk out the Great Commission. That commission has works to do, but they are the works of Yahusha as Word made flesh.

We are not saved by our works. But our works justify our faith in Messiah, obedience to Father’s Kingdom Laws, and are the evidence that we believe and love as he loves.

Our eternal life begins here on this Earth as we become Yahusha in the flesh and we continue his walk here doing the things he would have done had he stayed here on the Earth in the flesh. It is a more excellent way because he is with us in all our generations who love him and desire to serve him his way.

Yahusha had to leave because man would always kill the prophets. It is appointed unto man once to die in the flesh. Messiah already died once. Man would always reject the One who came to tell the Father’s Truth. One Word made flesh alone suffices for the whole world, but he is far more effectively able to reach the world when each individual  becomes the Word made flesh by his Spirit than if one single Word made flesh man was walking around during a single human lifetime as an individual light among the world. Instead, now we can have billions of lights in the world walking around defeating darkness. Can you see his Truth?

We are in rehearsal for our life in the eternal Spirit. When we allow Messiah to enter our heart and mind and we live in his Word daily, we become like him in every way. And we pick up our stake, our cross, and continue allowing him to take his steps in our bodies. Messiah didn’t sit at the feet of men. He sat listening and praying to his Father, who personally spoke to him and directed his steps. He went out and roamed the land healing, delivering, and demonstrating the power of the Father.

Neither are we to sit under the feet of men except for a brief period of time, and only to learn of Messiah so that we may begin to seek him ourselves! But men and women want to continue to do things by the flesh. They put a mediator named Moses in between the Father and themselves on Mount Sinai in the desert. We are still in the wilderness and we still want a man or woman for a mediator! We are to come out of that way of thinking and that way of being.

Which path are you walking on, Elohim’s or man’s? Are you preaching or learning from those who are preaching from their flesh? Or are you preaching or learning directly from the Spirit? This isn’t hard to discern because those who are still fleshly are teaching things that are in direct opposition to what Scripture teaches. You can determine this by their fruit, by their teachings, which over time when closely examined and compared to Scripture show cracks and then sink holes. Their teachings become shameful spewing. They become the blind leaders who are leading blind people into the pit. Their words reject people. They divide families. They interpret the Word to mean what they want it to mean. They don’t align with the Word, but with the opinions, doctrines, agendas, interpretations and traditions of their own, or of the findings of other men.

Those who teach according to the Word aren’t shouting at the people or offending their audience. They are humbly and repeatedly encouraging others to take steps toward Messiah and to remain in the Word daily. They bring the Word according to the Word, not according to their own agendas. They don’t use the Word to judge and convict people. They don’t use the Word to punish other people or to justify their behaviors. They speak truth Father’s way. And they encourage others to only glean from them because they recognize and acknowledge that we all know only in part, and that it isn’t our job to judge and convict others. It is Father’s job to do this by his Word and Spirit. We aren’t to be fleshly people using fleshly words and ways to wound and divide Father’s people from him. We aren’t to become stumbling blocks for others!

Father never designed people to have pulpits or churches. He designed them to gather as ekklesias, small gatherings of people in groups in a “round table” forum where we could discuss Messiah’s Words and wait upon him to appear in the center of the discussion by his Spirit or as a person who is his Word made flesh. We are to glean from the field, but we are to be fed by the One who is our Master. Our only Father and only Master, only Rabbi and only Teacher is Yahusha Messiah.

We were never meant to sit under the pulpits of men, who have twisted teachings to make us believe they are there to pull us out of the pit. Instead, they are teaching for commandments, the doctrines of men by adding to and taking away from the commandments of the One who created all things. We are never to do that. Fleshly leaders take small bites of the Word and spice it up with their own words and feed their agendas to the people. They can’t help it because they are flesh. What is imperfect can never teach perfection without becoming One new man in the Word.

Ezra 9:10 – And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? for we have forsaken thy commandments,

Matthew 15:9 – But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

Mankind can only teach a portion of the Word of truth. A person who has become the Word made flesh can teach truth, but since he is flesh, he will always have a bit of flesh in there. That is okay as long as we understand the difference between someone who claims they are of Elohim but who are teaching from the flesh, and someone who is of Elohim and who teaches from the flesh by his Spirit.

1 Corinthians 13:9 – For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

Once we have Yahusha within us, we are given far more wisdom and revelation than we could ever get by remaining in the flesh and searching the Scriptures with fleshly eyes and unrepentant hearts. That’s because we receive the eyes, heart and mind of Messiah.

1 Corinthians 13:12 – For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

Psalm 51:6 – Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

Messiah is how eternal life begins. Messiah’s Spirit is how right judgment and mercy comes. Messiah is how the proper interpretation of the Law is given. Messiah is the way, the truth and the life. He is eternal life. And eternal life begins when we take steps by faith and repentance, and receive Yahusha’s sin atonement for us.

But that is not all we must do. We must begin to walk out what we are called to do in the way that Messiah walked. We don’t walk according to the ways or words of man. We don’t walk according to what we desire to do for our Elohim. We walk in the way that Father tells us to walk. When you truly commit yourself to him, he will work One on one with you personally by his living Word that is Yahusha to reveal your commission and to help you walk it out daily, as long as you remain in his Word. And you will find that it will meet the desires of your heart as you serve him in joy.

The way of truth and life is full submission to the Father and to his Laws. It is obedience to his commands, his Laws. It is a releasing of fleshly things including money, control, provision, religions and anything else that hinders our ability to hear his voice by the Spirit.

His way is walking in the full truth of his Word. His way is living life here and now as his Word made flesh. That means we have the Spirit of Yahusha living fully within us. That Spirit directs and guides us in all that we do. That Spirit bears good fruit. That Spirit is not fleshly in its Words or ways. That Spirit is not going around judging people and using the Word to condemn others. It is calling out unrighteousness and directing us toward his righteousness. That Spirit calls out sin and tells Truth. That Spirit is a right Spirit that is in full alignment with the Word.

We must call upon Messiah to renew in us, his right Spirit, daily.

While Messiah paid our sin penalty, we are still held responsible for the sins we commit and for every idle word we speak, and the works that we do or fail to do. When we are speaking words of men, we aren’t speaking the Words of Messiah. The words of men are a fleshly song that gets stuck in our heart or our mind that we find ourselves singing without even thinking about it.

The Song of Messiah is a gentle Word that speaks lovingly and tells us patiently over and over again that we need to repent. We need to turn around. We need to do things differently. We need to stop teaching from the flesh. We need to seek his face. We need to stop judging others unless it is his right judgment. We are to preach his Word, but we can’t do that if we don’t know it. We need to be in his Word daily. We need him in every aspect of our life. We need him in our heart, in our mind, in our hands and in our words. Our words and his should be One. His Word is life. His Word is truth. His Word is love. Our words should point everyone who reads or hears them back to Messiah.

Man’s words and songs are sung from pulpits. They are troubled waters that stir up strife. They stir up confusion. They stir up contention. They stir up division. Even the “best” songs can cause people to compare their life with the song lyrics being sung only to find that they “lack” something. The only needs we have are already known by our Elohim. Those needs are repentance and a redeeming Messiah.

Father has already provided for all that we need. We only have to see that he is here for us, and to wisely choose him. Today he is calling us out from under the teachings of men who are not teaching the Word of Messiah his way. We grow fat on man’s words. Messiah’s Word is the fully balanced, healing and nourishing bread of life.

The Song of Messiah is a daily Word that is lived out by faith. Repentance is a daily song we sing. His bread of his Word is our daily bread, our daily meal. His wine of the Word is his daily water of life. It is the wisdom, insights and revelations we receive from him when we are in his Word daily and walking in our priesthood assignment.

Belief and trust in Elohim is a daily walk we take in the Word. We live out this life as Word made flesh by obedience to the Laws and in truth to the wisdom and revelation that his Spirit will reveal to us. We have such a merciful Elohim. He speaks to us through Messiah Yahusha, his Word made flesh which he gave for us, and whom we are to Shema – to hear and obey and to become.

Messiah is the bridge over the troubled waters of man. He brings healing when we cross over that bridge to become Hebrews (literally meaning “crossed over”). Yahusha is standing on the other side of the veil, the realm of the Spirit just beyond our visual perception. Every now and then fortunate believers are given a glimpse of what he looks like when, through great humility by his grace, he reaches through and shows us visions of things to come to help us on our journey. But every single person who desires to come to know our Father through his Son (his Word, his Laws and Mercy) can do so. They just need a humble heart and contrite Spirit. Then they invite him to come into their heart and he will do so. He is a gentleman and a gentle man. He must be invited.

While song lyrics can help us identify truths in our lives, they are not to be relied upon to guide us to truth any more than man’s words are, because they are written by people who are inherently flawed; people who have sinned. The Word tells us that all people are fallen. All have sinned. All fleshly people need the Word of Elohim to redeem the soul.

Messiah is the only One who can save the saints. He does this by pointing us back to his Word through his Apostles, Prophets, Pastors, Evangelists and Teachers. He convicts people by his Holy Spirit, and teaches them the difference between right and wrong. He then invites us to allow him to write his commandments, statutes and judgments upon our heart and mind so we can walk out our faith in full doing the works of the Great Commission in the season of life we are in.

Speaking of season…

Ecclesiastes 3:1 – To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

This season is the Season of Messiah. It is the Miracle of the Pour. That is the pouring out of his Spirit upon all flesh who are willing to receive him. It is the miracle of the changing of the water into the fine wine at the wedding in Cana. Believers are the disciples (leaders) and the wedding guests (new believers) who are receiving his fine wine in this season.

Notice that Yahusha tells his mother that his time has not yet come. But he performs a miracle anyway as an image of what he is willing to do if we will only believe him and do what he tells us to do. Those who are wise servants will obey him in this season. That’s because although Yahusha is the bridge between flesh and Spirit, he is also the One who is teaching mankind and demonstrating the Father’s power personally through us in this season. He is the mountaintop Messiah. He is the one who should be standing in the “pulpits” today, not man.

But man won’t want to lay down his role as Apostle, Prophet, Pastor, Evangelist or Teacher. In truth, he shouldn’t have to lay down that part of his giftings, as long as he is only teaching Messiah’s Word made flesh to perfect the believers. Those giftings are to be made useful during holy convocations and other gatherings. But we aren’t to play “church” weekly and sit and give an hour or two or ten and then go home and forget all about the Word. (Holy convocations are times of holy readings, which are not necessarily Sabbaths, but miqra’. [Strong’s H4744 from “qara’,” H7121] Search it out.)

If man is using the pulpit for anything other than Father’s Words that he is given in that moment to speak (and he does), then his words are in vain and so is Father’s Word, because it nullifies what Father gives him to speak. Man’s words make the body fat. They are shameful spewing. Our words require repentance if they are not aligned with his Word. In this season Yahuah will be marking people for their self-made high places. Whatsoever is done in darkness will be exposed in the light of truth. He will confound those who think themselves “wise” just to prove to them that they need him even to properly teach his Word.

Psalm 127:1 – [[A Song of degrees for Solomon.]] Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

Just because men identify themselves as “Israel” doesn’t make them of the House of a united Israel of the latter days. Those who preach “thus sayeth the Father” when he hasn’t said the words, opinions, judgments and interpretations of men that are delivered under the wrong spirit of flesh will be dealt with. All our words are judged and recorded. Father is jealous for his Word. He won’t allow man to usurp his Word or his plans; especially in these latter days when man is to step down from his high places so the Word may take center stage on the mountaintop.

Before Messiah returns in the flesh, he first returns in the Spirit. But before he returns in the flesh, he restores the body of believers from simply being members to being a united body that is mature enough to fully serve him. We can see how intimately this takes place in 1 Corinthians 12.

1 Corinthians 12:14 – For the body is not one member, but many.

It is not a teacher’s place to forsake those who are serving Messiah just because they don’t believe the same things they are teaching from the flesh. It isn’t man’s place to judge what role another believer has in Messiah, because man cannot see Father’s plan nor the other person’s heart, no matter what level of “discernment” they claim to be using.

Such intimacy occurs only between the individual and the Elohim they serve. Fleshly people won’t truly allow themselves to see the fruit of those who are of the Holy Spirit. That’s because they are consumed with pride, control, and spirits of the flesh that want to judge and condemn people. That is not a right spirit and it has no place in the pulpits before the body who are trying to come to know Messiah!

1 Corinthians 12:21 – And the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.

We don’t “cast down” apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists or teachers. We understand that they are part of the roles of people to call unbelievers to Messiah, because he is not here himself in bodily form. But even those roles change over time as we transition in growth from babes to mature adults. Father uses people with these giftings to call people to the Word. Their role is to perfect the saints, but they are not to do this by convicting and judging and playing the role of God on Earth. They are not the Father!

But the accuser in them will cause some of them to play a role where they want to be the one that everyone consults. They want to give business advice. They want everybody to talk to them first. They want to give marital advice. They want to control the thoughts and works of the members of their congregations. Anyone who doesn’t agree with them or play their game their way is evicted! Foolish people will go along with such activities which are clearly not of Elohim. That is not the way of Messiah. Messiah is Love! He is obedience to the Law but he also understands and applies wisdom and Mercy to the Law of Love. He is about salvation and unity, not division and rejection. However, be advised that he reigns as King. There is only One King in his Kingdom.

1 Corinthians 12:24 – For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:

In this season, Yahuah is giving those who are lacking, more abundant gifts and honor than the parts of the body that are without as much need of his Spirit. He works intimately with us One on one to bring us all to the level that he requires for us to be acceptable to him when he returns.

This is a season where the body is to go out and minister to the world, with the giftings and the knowledge and wisdom of the Law and of Mercy that we have been given. He will help us do this, as individuals and as a body. He is holding onto our right hand if we’ll let him. He will give us the right Words to speak and the right actions to perform in any situation. But we must rely upon him and not try to do things the way we have always done them, from our flesh and our own wisdom.

1 Corinthians 12:25 – That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.

1 Corinthians 12:26 – And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.

We are to care for one another and help one another reach the highest level of our giftings in the ways of Messiah so we can go out and sow and reap true believers in this latter season. Time is short and of the essence. We need all hands on the plow. He has set some with certain giftings in the “church” to first lead people to the Word. Then he sends others to call the people out of the churches. This is the season we are in today.

We are all being called out of the churches, congregations, synagogues and ekklesias to walk the field and do the works we are called to do, by our giftings. Thirdly is this season of the teachers, who, like the mother to the children, teach the Word as it is written to prepare the children of the body to receive Messiah. After the children become the Word made flesh, we will see the miracles, gifts, helps, governments and diversities of tongues surrounding them.

Jeremiah 31:34 – And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

1 John 2:27 – But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

Why? It’s because the body has become the Word made flesh that is now made manifest on Earth by the Spirit of Messiah. Soon the end will come, but we are to Shema the Teacher, the Messiah in this season. He is the true Apostle, Prophet, Pastor, Evangelist and Teacher. That’s why we call no man “rabbi” or “master” or “teacher.” We are no longer sitting at the feet of men. In this season, all believers will be on equal footing because Father is writing his Word upon the hearts of men. This is the season of the wheat crop harvest. We will no longer need man to teach us the things of Elohim because his Holy Spirit will lead us to all truth and teach us himself.

This doesn’t do away with the giftings of men and women, no more than Messiah did away with the Law. Messiah enhances our giftings. He fulfills them, but we have to allow him to enter us so he can do his works in us and through us. He allows those who are Word made flesh to really shine in the honor and glory of the Father as they stand before the people and deliver his Word his way. At least this is the season where this is supposed to happen. It all depends on whether or not man is ready to lay down his own gauntlet to pick up Messiah’s instead. Most people who lead congregations won’t repent. Their hearts will become hardened to the ways of old. What they have done will be counted unto them as righteousness, but they could do so much more if they would only die to self!

This is the season of true equality and unity. But the body must help the other members of the body get up out of their seats and get ready to go to work preaching the Everlasting Gospel of Messiah, the Gospel of Good News.

1 Corinthians 12:28 – And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

1 Corinthians 12:29 – Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

1 Corinthians 12:30 – Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?

1 Corinthians 12:31 – But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

Every member of the body is to prepare to receive their gifts and anointed priesthood, directly from Messiah. But those who are too busy following men will be passed by instead, by the Spirit of the One who comes as a thief in the night. He may ask:

“Shall I pass by?”

We need to be ready! He comes when we least expect. That’s why we are all to be listening and looking for him. Guess what? He is already here! But many people don’t believe he is here, so they argue and spend their time judging other people who say that he is, and they busy themselves making declarations that they want his presence while denying the words of the prophets that he is sending to announce to them that he is indeed already here!

Isn’t that just like man’s own “wisdom”? It’s the spirit of pride. It’s the spirit of wrath, the spirit that doesn’t want to hear or know the Father’s Truth. People need deliverance from this spirit! We are warring against spiritual powers, not flesh and blood.

Messiah has never left us nor forsaken us, because Father loves us through his Word. That means he has been with us all along, even if man has entirely dismissed or overlooked him. He is here in the Spirit, walking among his people right now as they become Word made flesh through him. To use a modern concept, can you see him now? Can you hear him now? Do you feel him speaking to you? If not, ask and he will answer. Knock and his door will open. Seek him and you will find him. Then rejoice!

The songs we sing and the words we use should be His, not our own. The powers we will manifest will be his, not ours. We aren’t to be troubled waters, but to be the angel that troubles the waters so that those who jump in by faith, or to whom we speak or touch by faith, may be healed, cleansed and delivered. (See John 5)

Be that bridge between the Word and the flesh, and the only troubled waters you will stir up are those that will heal, baptize, cleanse, and bring life. That’s because you will become the hands that heal, the wellspring of life, the hope of salvation.

Your voice will be the prayer to the dying, the water of truth and the song of Father’s love. And out of you will run rivers of living waters that heal and bring eternal life by cleansing people of sins and bringing them to the hope of salvation in Messiah. You’ll become the One on the bridge that leads people across to the other side into the arms of our loving Messiah.

HalleluYAH! He is alive and waiting for you!
